Are we participants in this forum because of bouts of "loneliness"?
by Wonderment ini wonder how many of us here hold on to this meeting place out of "loneliness.
could it be that we harbor feelings of "abandonment" and "loneliness" from being left cold and dry by the wt people and our families?
perhaps we do have a need to reach out to people with similar experiences.

Not lonely at all even tho I live alone but with 16 hedgehogs, 2 axolotls, 3 budgies and a chihuahua.
I want to know the latest Watchtower craziness. I want to see signs of their demise. I also like to see new ones discovering this site and follow their journey, willing them to get discover they can fly free never to return to the mental trap or cage that is the Jehovah's Witness religion.
Edited to add: the loneliest place for me was always at the KH or an assembly.

Revelation - it's grand climax is at hand
by Listener insome people point out the subliminal pictures in the wtbts publications but sometimes things are just so obvious, such as the title of the book above.. the person who came up with the title for this book must have had a good old laugh.. interestingly, this book first came out in 1988 and has not been included in the online library but nothing has replaced it.
the org is really going backwards when they ditch old light and cannot come up with anything new.
they are real wankers ;)..

Divergent you had the same experience as me. Only the reader and conductor had the new books. I had been ill and hospitalised due to severe depression so had not been to a meeting or read any littertrash for a few months. I had not marked the changes and was only vaguely aware of the "corrections"
None of it made sense as the "new light" was spoken out loud but I was reading what I always believed was "the truth". How does " truth" change. 2008 was a pivotal year for me and a year later I was out. Have not been "hospitalised" against my will again since either.

My first post
by thewalker inhi, i just joined the board and wanted to present myself.. i'm active, in fact very active in congregation activities serving "where the need is great" in a foreign language congregation somewhere in western europe.
as a young brother, i'm seen as an example as i'm doing all a good witness should do.. i had doubts years ago but i decided just to ignore them and move to another congregation to preach more.
that worked for some years but i'm now at the exact same point.

Welcome The Walker
As many have said your English is perfectly understandable, well done.
Your comment "It was sad to see how immigrants where marked as 'potential witnesses' and how we were using their need and desperation to start bible studies"
The same for me living in the Canary Islands. We had a Red Cross centre where the sub-saharan boat people would stay whilst the Spanish authorities decided what to do with them. The witnesses were banned from knocking so instead would call through their windows or hang about in the park next door to "catch" them.
These immigrants were often women who had crossed a 30 km stretch of very dangerous water fleeing dire circumstance in their home country. Most were pregnant or had newborns whilst making the crossing to be assured of Spanish citizenship and not be immediately deported back.
They were English speaking plus had their own African dialects and were not Spanish speaking so they became our "potentials" for the English speaking congregation not the Spanish. This has apparently changed since the English congregation abandoned them when they moved the KH to the north of the island (that's another story of how that even happened but it was achieved dishonestly) and although they were good for the pioneers to count time it was 4 bus journeys or an 80 km round trip for the person conducting their study to collect them and take them home again. Needless to say they were dropped like hot potatoes but my point was this was my first inkling that the witnesses were not Christians or even particularly good.
These poor women and their babies had nothing when they arrived on our island apart from the clothes they were wearing so my daughters and I used to take clothes, toys and other stuff to help them and I got "counselled" by an elder for it and was told to "offer them only Bible studies as anything more may encourage them to come into the truth for the wrong reasons".
We started going to the Red Cross at night hoping we wouldn't be seen and that was when I thought to myself this isn't right. Helping these poor women and their babies, many who had already survived being set on fire by their husbands was something that had to be done in secret!!!!
I then started on-line research on apostate websites and after returning to UK went to one last meeting, the memorial of 2009. A year later I was totally free mentally as well physically. I was 50 so I am very happy you have discovered the hypocrisy whilst young enough to enjoy life and live your life to it's full potential free from guilt and fear. I also totally agree with others who have said to take it slow and keep your thoughts to yourself. You have plenty of time to get yourself free and then learn about those who successfully got their spouses and other relatives out without being shunned or losing them and how to go about it.
I look forward to following your progress. You will get plenty of support from us here as we understand the range of emotions you will likely experience and can help you through them.
Take care
Amelia

Gas prices today & the book study
by LevelThePlayingField inwe all remember, one of the main reasons for removing the bookstudy was the high gas prices, well, have you looked at the gas prices today?
nationwide, the lowest is about $1.65, the highest is about $2.67.
isn't that right about the same gas prices as when they cancelled the bookstudy in the first place?

Having it drummed into us how important ALL the meetings were imagine my surprise upon moving to Spain that many meetings were cancelled.
Jah's holy spirit just couldn't get that all important literature to us and often there were no available speakers for the Sunday public talk so we all got to go to the local "cafe" or the beach an hour earlier.

I know that will probably be the most awesome thing I read all day.
How long before they believe "if you have seen a member of the Governing Body you have seen God?." They are already starstruck if one visits locally and want photos.

Hi Grags
Another Brit here. Welcome to the forum.
JW facts is an excellent site to do research. Have you studied the origins of the religion? Very interesting. Also the ever changing definition of the timespan of the word generation.
I was not born into the religion but recruited via them knocking on my door back in 1984 as a young single mum. They convinced me my 2 year old would not start school armageddon was so imminent and now not only has she grown up and got married and had a child but her child also grew up and got married and had a child.
I was never supposed to grow old in this system and they successfully recruited me with the "promise from our creator" that the Bethelites who were photographed on the front of the current magazine were the generation Christ spoke of that would be alive when armageddon came. Sadly none of them lived to see armageddon. Not one. They are all dead.

Possible reason for cancellation of book study in homes.
by Amelia Ashton inthis was posted on fb.. so guys, i'm gonna share something with you all that i think you should know.
i've only told two people about this (one being john cedars) for fear of getting this guy into trouble, but it's very telling and will reaffirm your "ttatt faith!
a couple of weeks ago, i had to have an "ability to protect" assessment by a gentleman from a company that also investigates child protection policies etc.

So guys, I'm gonna share something with you all that I think you should know. I've only told two people about this (one being John Cedars) for fear of getting this guy into trouble, but it's very telling and will reaffirm your "TTATT faith!"

I told him that I am an EXJW and he proceeded to tell me that a few years ago, he was hired by The Watchtower, Bible And Tract Society to carry out an assessment of their child protection policies, because the Charity Commission were going to remove their charitable status based on the growing number of child sex abuse cases, that were not being reported.
He said it was an eye opener for him. When he was in contact with the elders in bethel and their legal department, he was surprised at how delusional they were. He said they were condescending, pious and refused to believe that there was an issue with their "2 witness rule." This professional said that he and the charity commission, had a particular concern with the home book study arrangement, namely that Elders do not make families aware of paedofiles that waltz into their house and anything can happen to a child, in a home, under those dangerous circumstances.
He also told me that the elders would smile condescendingly at him, tut, shake their head and say, "you don't understand." He said that it was ridiculously difficult for him to get through to them.
When it became time to write his report, the legal department asked him to state that he has investigated and finds no issue with the book study arrangement and with their policies. This guy refused to say this because he felt it was a dishonest lie, he pointed out that they have changed NOTHING in their child sex abuse policy/protection policy and so unless they stop the group study arrangements, they will have their charitable status removed. So can you guess what happened?? Watchtower stopped the group study arrangement in every home and sacked the man that wouldn't lie for them.
I tried to tell my mother about this on Wednesday night and that is a whole extra post (which I will need some help for) but I will tell you all about that soon.
I hope and pray I do not get him/myself into trouble for sharing this information but I feel you all should know and are entitled to know. It just strengthens our case against them. I also wonder if the charity commission are aware that they still have field service arrangements in private homes? Perhaps they should stop that too!? Or have they already?
Most interesting I thought
